The announcement follows a period of negotiation which saw Ballygowan sign a six-figure, three-year deal with one of the most successful clubs in Europe. Nicola O Connell, marketing manager for Ballygowan, said that as a Munster based company with close affiliations with sport, fitness and health, this sponsorship has caused great excitement within the company, particularly amongst the stronghold of Munster rugby supporters based at the Ballygowan plant in Newcastle West.
Ms O Connell said: This is a great fit for Ballygowan and a natural extension of our existing water sponsorship of Shannon RFC and our previous affiliation with rugby icon Jonah Lomu. The players get through gallons of water during training and matches and Ballygowan is proud to be the water of choice for Munster Rugby.
There is a natural synergy between Ballygowan and Munster Rugby and we are proud to be in a position to sponsor an outstanding squad, so close to the origins of Ballygowan at Newcastle West.
We have tied this sponsorship in with our new B-Sports 600ml pack which is designed for those on the go or involved in sport, so this association comes at a perfect time for Ballygowan as we extend our own sports pack portfolio.
Munster Rugby s CEO, Garrett Fitzgerald, echoed Ms O Connells sentiments and said; Ballygowan is a company with which we are delighted to be associated having its roots firmly planted in the heart of Munster, but with a reputation that matches our own in terms of international standing. All at Munster Rugby are looking forward to a long-standing and mutually beneficial relationship as we embark on a new season with a great brand on our side .
Ballygowan has a keen interest in supporting, not only great Irish teams, but developing teams and younger players, all of whom need encouragement and backing in order to realise their sporting ambitions. Ballygowan has, therefore, extended its sponsorship to become official water supplier to Munster Rugby s U21 s team.
