They completed their preparations with a final warm up match against a UCC selection in the Mardyke last Friday night, going down narrowly 27-24 in a closely contested game, played in excellent conditions on one of the best surfaces in the country.
Munster started brightly and took an early lead with a Ben Sargent try after a break by fellow centre Cian Bohane. Once UCC found their feet however - using their superior physicality and strength in the tackle- they scored two converted tries and a penalty to take a commanding 17- 8 into the break.
Both sides rung the changes for the second half with UCC continuing to dominate.Capitalising on their superior physical strength they used their rolling maul to good effect and stretched their lead a with try out wide.
Munster 19s to their credit worked their way back into the game and a series of good phases resulted in a well worked try from Kevin O'Byrne that Sargent converted. The centre kept the scoreboard ticking over with 3 further penalties to tie the game with five minutes of normal time remaining.
In the end-game UCC managed to make their experience count, forcing the penalty to snatch the spoils.
