Munster had started steadily, with Jeremy Staunton putting over two penalties in the opening 15 minutes to give the home side a 6-0 lead, but gradually Ulster clawed their way back into the game.
With one man in the sin-bin, Ulster cut the deficit with a Larkin penalty before Seamus Mallon went over to give Larkin the chance to convert and give them a 10-6 lead. A penalty from Larkin extended the lead to seven at half time.
However, Munster fought back in the second period with Staunton kicking three penalties to move 15-13 in front. It looked as though they might have done enough, but deep into injury time Ulster were awarded a penalty and Larkin did not waste the opportunity.
