Munster Didn't Really Trouble Us

Cardiff Blues coach David Young admitted that his side would have to improve for their next challenge against the Ospreys

The Blues secured a comfortable 22-13 victory over a depleted Munster at the Arms Park on Friday night.

Young's side dominated every facet of the game but only crossed for tries by wing Chris Czekaj and new flanker Scott Morgan.

"It was frustrating because we spilt so much ball," said Young.

"Any problems we had, we created for ourselves. Munster only looked dangerous on the turnover and didn't really trouble us elsewhere.

"You have to remember that was the same Munster side that put 37 points on us in the last game of last season.

"We play the Ospreys in our next game and we will certainly have to be a lot better than that to push them.

"We won't have the opportunities we had against Munster against the Ospreys - and when we do get any opportunity, we will have to finish them."

The Blues did get a major boost with the sight of Tom Shanklin coming off the bench to play his first comeback game after recovering from a career-threatening knee injury.

"The run he had towards the end will do wonders for his confidence," said Young.

New-signing Ben Blair, arrives on Thursday, September 9, and is expected to feature against the Ospreys.

Meanwhile Munster have added to their squad with the arrival of hooker Andy Kyriacou from Saracens and Australian Tim McGann both of whom have agreed terms subject to medicals and the usual work permit regulations. Kyriacou is a former England Under 21 international and joins on a short term contract while McGann who played for Eastern Suburbs in Sydney will remain until the end of the current season.
