Munster Squad Update
24 July 2009, 3:51 pm
By staff
Munster continued their pre season preparations this afternoon with a squad training session in UL.
The squad did not include the Lions contingent with the exception of John Hayes, as the rest will return to full training on Monday August 3rd, two days before the squad depart for a week long pre-season training camp in Portugal.

Among those training this afternoon was Tomás O'Leary who confined his activities to work on the sideline with fitness coach Anthony Coole.  O'Leary's progress is described as ahead of schedule and the player himself very happy with his progress, "I'm very pleased with how things have gone with my rehab, the trip to the States was certainly beneficial and the progress has been maintained since my return thanks to the Munster fitness staff."

Also in attendance this afternoon were newcomer Felix Jones and Danny Riordan, who is currently with the squad on trial.  Thirteen of the squad will take a break from the Munster scene for a three day training camp with the Ireland squad in Belfast this Sunday.

At present Munster are continuing with one squad session a week, alternating between the Cork and Limerick base, but next week they will shift to Clonakilty RFC and then adjourn to Inchedoney Beach for a bit of R&R, courtesy of Rip Curl.

Munster players departing for the Irish camp:  Tony Buckley, Ian Dowling, Jerry Flannery, Denis Fogarty, Marcus Horan, Denis Hurley, Felix Jones, Denis Leamy, Barry Murphy, Mick O'Driscoll, Niall Ronan, Donnacha Ryan and Peter Stringer.
