Munster flanker Alan Quinlan played a starring role in the Ireland A side's 15-9 win over France in Donnybrook where Shaun Payne made his international debut when he replaced Bryn Cunningham towards the end of the opening half.

Paul Burke also made his contribution when he landed a penalty after coming on as a second half replacement.

Meanwhile, in Thomond Park, Ireland Under 21s produced their best performance to date but came up short against a better drilled French side, losing 21-13.
