The IRFU Munster Development Department ran a second Level 1 course recently to meet the increasing demand for coaching courses at this level in Munster.

The IRFU Munster Development Department ran a second Level 1 course this year to meet the increasing demand for coaching courses at this level in Munster. This is a direct result of the great numbers of coaches that previously come through our Foundation Level. The course was held in Colaiste Stiofan Naofa on the Tramore Rd in Cork on 26/27/28 September 2005.

The weekend was both enjoyable and informative for staff and coaches alike. Tutors included Bryan Hyland for Scum and Lineout, Brian Walsh for Backline attack and defence, Phil Rees for Principles of Play, Planning Sessions, Role of the Coach, Ultan O'Callaghan for Restarts, Ruck & Maul, Ian Costello (Elite Player Development Officer) and Ray Egan (IRFU Fitness Dept) and Mark Hickey (RDO) took Individual Skills.

Carol Nyhan presented on Injury prevention and Mark McManus presented the fitness modules on our link course which was held last Saturday 3rd September 2005.

The knowledge shared was outstanding, the application and enjoyment equally matched throughout the weekend.

We wish all coaches who participated with us, the very best for the coming season and we look forward to following up on their progress.
