The teams took the field as announced. In atrocious conditions, both teams attempted to play rugby with Munster having the early edge with some good breaks from outhalf, Brian O'Shea. Continuous rain made attacking play very difficult for both sides.

Two early penalty shots at goal by Munster went wide. There was good work and variation in the lineouts with Ross Noonan and Ruairi Geoghegan capitalising on good ball possession and some excellent resultant mauling. Ulster with a strong physical presence dominated the rucks. In the first half made two strong runs one of which looked like a certain try but was knocked on going over the line much to Ulster's relief.

The rain persisted throughout the match and made handling particularly difficult for both sets of players. Despite efforts by both sides, possession was often lost after the second or third phase of play. In the second half, the following Munster players came on as replacements: Karl Mitchell, Neville Melbourne, Robert Brockert and John Kerins. The quality of the game was far superior than the nil all result would suggest. Munster certainly attempted to play constructive rugby and had more chances of scoring than Ulster. Munster go into the last game against Leinster in Templehill, Cork next Saturday, 30th November at 1.00 p.m. with the winner being crowned the Schools Interpro champions.
