Earlier this week Edinburgh had withdrawn as an associate member of the Scottish Rugby Union who in turn asserted not unnaturally, that Edinburgh were therefore not entitled to take part in any competition governed by the IRB. However last Thursday night Edinburgh withdrew their threat to withdraw and an uneasy peace descended.
