Alan Quinlan's effort to have a six week suspension reduced has been rejected by the ERC.
After a third day of deliberation, Quinlan was left to wait a further 12 hours before learning that his appeal had been unsuccessful. Quinlan had admitted the offence but appealed the severity of the sentance. The Munster flanker, having missed the Magners League games against Leinster, Connacht and Newport Gwent Dragons, will now also miss the Heineken Cup games against Bourgoin and Leicester Tigers, and therefore his chances of inclusion in Eddie O' Sullivan's RBS Six Nations squad is highly unlikely. That being the case, Quinlan's hopes of getting a place in the Irish World Cup Squad have been seriously jeopardised by this decision.
