Heavy rain and high winds greeted the Munster squad when they awoke at their Swansea hotel this morning and conditions are not expected to improve as the morning goes on.
The heavy rain (15mm in 3 hours) that lashed south Wales is forecast to continue until the early afternoon at least and the Met Office in issuing a severe weather warning have advised motorists to exercise extreme caution as theory expect driving conditions to deteriorate.

A visit to the match venue yesterday evening by Munster team manager Jerry Holland found the pitch to be in good conditions however there are concerns about a venue where two years ago a Munster/Lllanelli Celtic League game had to be cancelled because of the waterlogged pitch.

If that turns out to be the case on this occasion the home side are required by ERC regulations to provide an alternative venue. It's believed that would be the Liberty Stadium in Swansea.

ERC's Diarmuid Murphy will visit the ground this morning to assess the situation and if necessary will call on the match referee to make a decision on the suitability or otherwise of the pitch.
