It will be recalled that Munster on that day were set the near impossible task of beating Gloucester, arguably the strongest team in English Rugby, by 4 tries and 27 points. Amid scenes never seen before in Thomond Park they completed that task with a try in the dying moments from John Kelly which Ronan O'Gara converted for a victory that sent them through to the Quarter Final for a record fifth successive time.
