Cobh Pirates are the early pace setters in the First Division of the Heineken Munster Junior League after their 43-6 win over St. Mary's. The other promoted club Old Christians nearly caused a major shock, when a try from Ian Ryan in the last minute of injury time, earned Nenagh a 22-19 victory over the Cork side. Holders Bruff began their campaign with an impressive performance in Crosshaven, where they won 19-9.

Thurles and Cashel continue to ride high in the Second Division after big wins again for the second successive week. Thurles defeated Castleisland 45-0 and Cashel scored ten tries in their 72-9 demolition of Kanturk. Kinsale and Dunmanway lead the way in the Third Division, but Abbeyfeale and Presentation began their campaigns in fine style with home wins.
