"They offer an invaluable service in providing accommodation to the relatives of seriously ill patients in Cork Hospitals and the Hospice. These services are provided at times of extreme emotional distress for people and Bru continuously provide services in a caring, unobtrusive, respectful and unassuming manner.
"At such a stressful time it is a great relief to loved ones to know that there is a place they can go to, and where they can stay in a caring and welcoming environment. I am delighted to be associated with this charity."
Anne-Maria O'Connor, Event Manager with Brú Columbanus said: "We are privileged to have James as our patron. His support will be crucial in raising awareness of our charity and we are excited to be working with him.
"Brú Columbanus is an independent charity completely reliant on donations and fundraising initiatives to cover the running costs of our 26 bedroom facility. Bru Columbanus provides accommodation to relatives of seriously ill patients in Cork Hospitals from all over Ireland and indeed the world, but predominantly from Munster. It is particularly appropriate that James is supporting a 'Munster' charity."
A fundraising Community Family Fun Day will take place on Sunday the 1st June.
