The A side are level on points with Plymouth but the English team are ahead on points difference.
Munster A recorded a thrilling win when the sides met earlier as Johnny Holland converted Rory Scannell's last-minute try to secure a one-point victory at Meadow Lane.
Tonight's visitors are tenth in the Championship but have won their last two in the B&I Cup and Munster A Head Coach Malone is expecting Nottingham to be a difficult proposition.
"They have been struggling a bit in the Championship, but sometimes a change of competition can freshen a team up and we have to be very wary of that.
"It's a very tight pool, we've got a big task on our hands.
"We've got to be wary of winning our pool and trying to match Plymouth's points difference over the last two games. But we also need to keep an eye on second-place in case things don't work out."
It will be the first time that Munster A play at the Grove Island venue and Malone is looking forward to the occasion.
"It will be great, I am really looking forward to going there," he said.
"The experience has been great, going around to all the venues in Bandon and Waterford.
"St Mary's is a good, traditional parish club and they have nice facilities. It's a nice, closed-in ground as well so there should be a good atmosphere there, with the crowd right in on top of the pitch.
"It will suit us, a Friday night game in Limerick. It's a great opportunity for St Mary's to showcase their club."
One change has been made to the side announced yesterday as Darren Sweetnam replaces Andrew Conway on the wing. The decision was made as a precautionary measure by the management and medical team after Conway felt tightness in his groin after training yesterday.
