This week's club notes come from Carrick-on-Suir, Midleton and Shannon rugby clubs.
Crescent began their campaign with a narrow 9-8 victory over Castletroy College and than defeated a fancied P.B.C. side 20-10.
Glenstal Abbey lost their opening game 9-3 to Rockwell but than produced the upset of the season with a 16-10 victory over C.B.C. at Temple Hill.
While Crescent will be expected to reach the final they can expect a stiff test from the Murroe school side.
The other semi final is between Ard Scoil Ris and Castletroy College and this game goes ahead at Dooradoyle kick off 3.30.
Ard Scoil Ris have been the surprise packet with wins over P.B.C. 15-5 and a 17-10 victory over St. Munchin’s in the quarter final.
Castletroy College after losing by the narrowest of margins to Crescent 9-8 in the opening round bounced back with an impressive performance to defeat Rockwell 20-0.
This should be a very close contest with Castletroy the slight favourites to advance.
The big game is the Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Senior Cup Final which is a repeat of last year’s decider which P.B.C. won 22-10.
It will be Rockwell’s third successive final and they will be eager to bridge a ten year gap since their last success.
Presentation Brothers College began their campaign with a hard earned 23-5 win over Glenstal Abbey. St. Munchin’s were defeated 17-6 in the quarter final and they over came Crescent College Comprehensive 23-12 at Thomond Park in the semi final.
Rockwell College had to play an extra game to reach the decider. They began their campaign with 31-0 away win over Bandon Grammar. St. Munchin’s were beaten in the next round 33-13 and they had a real fright in the quarter finals before overcoming the challenge of Ard Scoil Ris 8-3. The Tipperary side produced a battling performance to defeat C.B.C. 13-9 in the semi final.
It should be another close contest with victory likely to go either way by the narrowest of margins.
