The Munster Rugby Academy recently ran their annual transition year programme in Limerick and Cork inviting transition year students from Munster rugby schools to participate in the week planned events as part of their work experience programme.
The week provides the students with the opportunity to partake in activities and lectures that resemble that of a professional rugby player, giving students an insight into the everyday life of their professional heros.

Academy Manager Ian Sherwin, Academy staff and guest tutors address various aspects of rugby both on and off the field, and modules covered include: rugby skills, laws of the games, nutrition, goal setting, video analysis, the Long Term Player Development programme, Sports Psychology, Speed and Gym Training.

Over sixteen students representing PBC, Midleton College and Bandon Grammar attended the camp in the Mardyke Arena, Cork, under the guidance of Sub Academy Fitness Coach Paudie Roche and Elite Development Officer Ken OConnell.

In the University of Limerick Elite Development Officer Ray Egan and Academy Strength and Conditioning Coach Feargal OCallaghan welcomed over twenty students from Ard Scoil Ris, Crescent College Comprehensive, Castletroy College, St. Munchins College, Glenstal Abbey and Rockwell College.

Guest lecturers such as David McHugh (Referee Development Officer), Aidan OConnell and Tom Comyns (Munster Senior strength and conditioning coaches), Jason Holland (Munster backs coach) and Rugby Development Officers were on hand during the week sharing their own wealth of experience and knowledge with the eager participants.
