A selection of players from the Daughters of Charity in Munster recently took part in a challenge match at Garryowen Rugby Club.
Kilfeacle will play Crosshaven in the other semi final after Crosshaven defeated Skibbereen 22-15 at the West Cork venue.
Paul Cogan scored three tries for the winners and Kieran Doran kicked two conversions and a penalty. Skibbereen replied with a try from David Shannon and Ger Hurley kicked a penalty and converted a penalty try.
All four quarter finals in the Munster Junior Clubs Challenge Shield were decided.
Ballincollig booked their place with a 34-10 home win over Youghal. Ballincollig had two tries from Ian O’Mahony and one each from Robert Foulkes and Padraig Flynn. Kevin Ryan converted all four and also added two penalties.
Newcastle West will meet Ballincollig in next week’s semi final after they defeated Newport 17-3. Newport led 3-0 at half time with a penalty from Shane Ryan. The West Limerick side replied with four penalties from Alan Roche and a try from Sean Corbett.
Kinsale were 39-8 away winners over a weak Killarney side. Reanuad Sergere scored two tries for the winners and Andy Lynch, Ian Connelly, Shane O’Regan and Johan Fabritius got one each with Paul Perez kicking a penalty and two conversions.
Presentation will now travel to Kinsale next week in the other semi final after their 16-7 home win over Mallow. Kevin Donnelly scored a try for the winners and Mark Phair kicked a conversion and three penalties. Mallow replied with a try from Dave Walsh which Eoin Glynn converted.
Dungarvan booked their place in the semi final of the Martin O’Sullivan Cup with a 39-24 away win over Carrick-on-Suir. Cian Walsh and Kieran O’Sullivan scored two tries each for the winners and Joey Lawlor, David Hickey got one each. Conor Foley converted three of the tries and also added a penalty. Prop Sean Cuddy scored three tries for Carrick’ and Ed O’ Donnell got one. Charlie O’Keeffe converted two of the tries.
Charleville defeated Douglas 22-11. John O’Neill scored two tries for the North Cork side and Ger Sheehan got one and Frankie Holly kicked two conversions and a penalty
In the other two ties both Waterford City and Fermoy received walk overs.
Bruff defeated St. Senan’s 16-15 in the Transfield Cup. Fergal Lawlor, Neill McDonough and Barry Murphy scored tries for Senan’s.
Kilfeacle defeated Nenagh Ormond 17-14 in the Mansergh Cup. Jack O’Sullivan scored a try for the winners and Mark Burke kicked four penalties.
Highfield and Sunday’s Well shared the spoils in their Seconds League encounter at Woodleigh Park after playing out a 17-17 draw. George French, Don Keogh and Kyle McNally scored tries for the Woodleigh Park side and Darragh Masterson kicked a conversion.
Carrigaline and Old Christians will contest next week’s Dennehy Cup final. Carrigaline defeated Highfield 16-15. Kevin Foley and Kieran Kelleher scored tries for the winners and John Tait kicked two penalties. Darren Walsh replied with two tries for Highfield and Darragh O’Keeffe kicked a penalty and a conversion.
Old Christians defeated Cobh Pirates 13-5 with tries from Paddy Walsh and Eoin Ryan and a Conor Mangan penalty. Stephen Lee replied with a try for the Pirates.
Sunday’s Well booked their place in the Muskerry Cup Final with a 15-14 away win over Clonakilty. Michael Moriarty and Donal Ahern were try scorers for the ‘Well and Ahern kicked a conversion and penalty. Brian McSweeney and Greg O’Mahony scored tries for the home side and Shane Newman converted both.
