This will be an opportunity for Garryowen to progress from the bottom of the table however, bragging rights will be as nearly important as points for the host team.
Cork Division 3 clubs Sunday’s Well and Highfield will also kick off on Friday night at 7.30 p.m. in Musgrave Park. This is the first Friday Night Lights game in Cork this season and the sides’ first league meeting since 1997 when the ‘Well won by 24-23.
There has been huge interest in this fixture with the pre-match dinner sold out already. Finger food will be provided in the bar pre match and a “food stall” will remain open after the game.
Highfield lost to NUIM Barnhall last weekend in their first competitive fixture in over two months and the ‘Well have claimed three vital losing bonus points from their last four defeated outings in a row.
The stakes couldn’t be any higher for this one with both teams lying in eight and eleventh respectively on the table. The game promises to be a ‘value for money’ fixture at a €7 entry fee (no charge for youths).
