The workshop was coordinated by Domestic Rugby Manager Ultan O’Callaghan and Coach Development Officer Keith Murphy. It began with a 25 minute presentation indoors followed by a practical element on the pitch.
The theme for the evening was ‘building a scrum’ where Paul utilised the Cork Con and Dolphin U21 packs to demonstrate warm up techniques, core and head stability, body positioning, building a front row and full engagement sequence.
Munster Rugby would like to take this opportunity to thank Sundays Well RFC for providing the facilities, Cork Con and Dolphin U21’s for participating in the Workshop and Paul McCarthy for all his input.
Further Scrum workshops with Paul McCarthy will be held in Garryowen FC, Tralee and Clonmel next Monday, Wednesday and Thursday respectively and all club coaches have been invited to attend.
Munster Rugby will run continuation scrum workshops identifying different themes in the New Year.
