Only two of the six scheduled games in the Munster Junior League went ahead this weekend.
Both games were in the Second Division and it resulted in Newcastle West taking over at the top of the table and Youghal moved off the bottom.

The West Limerick side defeated Newport 35-0. This result leaves Newport, Bandon and Charleville sharing bottom spot. Newcastle West led Newport 11-0 at half time and the home side try scorers were two from Richard Langford and one each from Sean Berkery and Niall Kennedy. Sean Neville kicked three penalties and three conversions.

Youghal collected maximum points with a 25-19 home win over Kinsale and moved up four places in the table. The home side laid the ground work for this victory in the opening half as they led 20-7 at the interval. Conor Coleman, Stephen Kelly, Jonathon Ormond and Jimmy Barron scored tries for the winners and Ormond kicked a conversion and a penalty. Peter Murphy, Ian Connelly and Colm McCarthy were try scorers for Kinsale and Murphy converted two of the tries.

Three games were played in the Under 21 South Western Conference and it turned out to be a good day for the Cork sides involved. Highfield inflicted a first defeat on Section A leaders Garryowen with a 24-9 victory at Woodleigh Park.
U.C.C. defeated Corinthians 36-3 in Galway to move within five points of leaders Garryowen with two games in hand and look sure to make it to the top section in phase two. They scored six tries with Gareth O'Suilleabhain and Daniel Horgan getting two each and Olan Dennehy and Oscar O'Suilleabhain also crossed the whitewash. Kevin Kidney converted three of the tries.
In Section B Cork Constitution completed their program unbeaten with a 43-13 win over U.L. Bohemian at Temple Hill. They led 26-6 at half time. Eoin O'Donnell scored two tries for the winners and Darragh Dunne, Cathal Quinn and Robert Clune were their other try scorers. Sean Murphy kicked four penalties and three conversions.
Elsewhere newly formed Kenmare had a surprise 17-8 home win over Castleisland in Section A of the South Munster Junior Two League. Pat Keating scored two tries for the winners and Gary Burke got one and Chris Harrington kicked a conversion.
