Abbeyfeale collected maximum points in their section of the Third Division with a 25-17 home win over Scariff. Conor Prendiville, Kieran McCarthy, Tere Vickridge, Dave Prendiville and Paul Collins all scored tries for the winners.
There were mixed fortunes for Senior clubs against Junior clubs in the Munster Junior Cup with the top AIL clubs advancing against Division One clubs, but those in the Second Division had better luck as four Senior club sides made their exit.
Thurles came very close to causing the shock of the competition as they led U.C.C. 9-0 with two penalties from AidanDwyer and a drop goal from Ollie Geoghan with less than ten minutes remaining. However the students rallied and tries from John Gleeson and Andrew Cudmore and two conversions and a penalty by Kevin Kidney saw the students advance 17-9.
Cork Constitution easily brushed aside the challenge of Waterpark at Temple Hill with a 53-3 victory. The winners were 31-3 ahead at half time and had two tries each from Michael Keyes and Robert Clune, with Cyprian Jouve, Tim Dukelow, Colin O'Shea, Rogan Gee and Conor Desmond all scoring tries. Keyes kicked four conversions and Brendan Walsh replied with a penalty for the visitors.
Shannon proved too strong for Cobh Pirates at Coonagh advancing on a 43-19 scoreline.
Cathal O'Neill scored two tries for the home side and Johnny Paradise, Eoin Sargent, Garret Quinn-McDonogh and Batt Duggan got one each. Sargent kicked a penalty and five conversions. Cobh replied with tries from Darren Frahill, Matt Morehan and Jack Hickey. Brendan Ronan and Mark Chandler each kicked a conversion
Two tries by Glen Murphy both converted by Denis Galvin were not enough for Ballincollig who lost 32-14 away to Young Munster at Tom Clifford Park.
Ennis struggling at the foot of the Second Division swept aside the challenge of Old Crescent with a 45-0 home victory. Noel Downes scored two tries for the Clare side and Rory Murphy and Sean Flanagan got one apiece. Bryan Murphy kicked seven penalties and two conversions.
Galbally got back to winning ways when a Karl Bourke penalty earned his side a 3-0 home win over Thomond.
Second Division leaders Clanwilliam traveled to Clonakilty and came away 31-15 winners. Richard Childs scored two tries for the Tipperary side and Ian O'Rahilly and Robert Doyle got one each. Childs kicked one conversion and Willie O'Dwyer added three penalties. James O'Driscoll and Eric White replied with tries for the West Cork side and Ciaran Calnan kicked a penalty and White a conversion.
Kinsale defeated Sunday's Well 24-15. The home side were 14-3 ahead at half time and were twenty one points up entering the final quarter and had to withstand a late 'Well rally. Eddie Farran, Andy Lynch and Peter Murphy were Kinsale's try scorers and Murphy kicked three conversions and a penalty. Ian O'Regan replied with two tries for the 'Well and Danny O'Shea kicked a conversion and penalty.
A try in each half by Brian Gill and James Colbert both converted by Dan O'Connor gave Midleton a 14-0 victory away to Carrick-on-Suir.
Youghal caused a surprise with a 20-15 home win over Kanturk. Two tries by Alan Fox and a conversion and penalty by Jonathon Ormond had the East Cork side 15-0 ahead at half time. Alan Frahill-O'Connor added another try for the winners after the break. Kanturk replied with tries from Joe Barry and Simon Mulholland and a conversion and penalty by Daragh Meade.
Third Division side Castleisland maintained their good run with a 22-5 home win over Second Division Bandon. Mark Connolly opened the scoring with a drop goal for the Kerry side but a try by Ritchie Powell put the visitors in front. A penalty and a second drop goal by Connolly made it 9-5 at half time in favour of the home side. Willie Walsh scored the game's only try and Connolly converted and also added a third drop goal and a penalty.
Home advantage helped Muskerry to a 41-12 victory over Corca Dhuibhne. Darren O'Farrell scored three tries for the winners and Shane Collins, Shane Murphy, JJ Herlihy and Tim Burke got one each. Dave Foley kicked three conversions. Johnny Curran and Alan Dillane scored tries for the Kerry Gaeltacht side and Curran converted one.
In the only all First Division clash, Clonmel had a surprising 20-15 away win over league leaders Tralee. Clonmel led 17-8 at half time with a tries by Sean Reidy and Morgan Lyons, with Lyons converting both and also adding a penalty. Chris Dermody kicked a penalty for the home side and Joe Gilmartin scored a try. Brian O'Sullivan scored a second try for Tralee after the break and Dermody converted. Lyons added a penalty for the visitors.
A penalty try and tries by Peter Jones and Mick Costello and an Aaron Foskin conversion helped Waterford City to a 17-5 home win over Killarney. John O'Sullivan replied with a try for the visitors.
In the last remaining First Round tie Mallow defeated Shandon 31-0 and will now face Highfield in the next round. Neil McSherry, Rory McSherry, Dave Walsh, Leonard Browne and Liam Kelleher all scored tries for the winners and Brian Morris kicked three conversions.
Two tries by Conor Aherne and a Cathal O'Keeffe conversion was not enough for Fermoy who lost 40-12 away to Nenagh Ormond in the opening round of the Munster Junior Plate.
Killorglin had a narrow 29-28 away win over Dungarvan. David Hayden and Ronan Curtayne scored tries for the winners and Brian Gannon kicked five penalties and two conversions. Cian Moloney replied with two tries for Dungarvan and Eoin Cunningham and Richie Laffan got one each. Michael Irwin kicked three conversions and Joey Lawlor one.
Douglas had a surprising 29-23 away win over Charleville. Ger Hayes, Tadgh Cronin and Philip Hogan were try scorers fro Charleville and Frank Holly kicked two penalties and a conversion.
Dunmanway defeated Bandon 20-8 in the Junior Two League South. Ryan Morrissey, John Collins and Stephen Chambers scored tries for Dunmanway. Gordon Brett added a drop goal and Anthony Howard kicked a conversion. Dave Wilson replied with a try for Bandon and Eoghan O'Callaghan kicked a penalty.
Four tries by Jack O'Sullivan helped Cork Constitution to a 24-0 home win over Carrigaline.
A try by Denis McKernan and a conversion and penalty by Sean Twomey gave Shandon a 10-6 home win over Cork Transport in the Junior Three League South. Derek Bowler replied with two penalties for the visitors.
