Ireland U18's through to Final for Second Year Running

The Irish U18 Club team will compete in the final of the FIRA AER U18 European Championship final for the second year running after defeating Russia on Sunday and England on Wednesday in Treviso, Italy. Munster was represented in both games by Luke O'Dea from Shannon RFC and Dean Landy from Carrick on Suir

Landy has created history by becoming the first Munster Youth and Irish U18 club cap for his club, while its been

18 years since a Shannon player has received an U18 cap.

On Sunday, Ireland had a comprehensive 53-0 win over Russia, and on Wednesday night, Ireland defeated

England 8-3 in a close semi final, setting up a rematch with France in the final on Saturday. 

France defeated Ireland 4-3 in last years final in a penalty shoot out.  Saturdays final will be played at

Benetton Treviso's home ground, Stadio Comunale di Monigo.

These Championships involve 32 European Nations divided into 4 divisions.  Ireland were seeded s

econd in the first division by virtue of their outstanding performance in 2007 when they were

undefeated but finished as runners up to host nation France.
