J2 - Kinsale won the toss and elected to kick off allowing Pirates to choose to play into the wind in the first half. Pirates pack started well and had kinsale under pressure from the start.
Pirates should have scored mid way in first half but some basic errors in the opposition 22 left them down and defending their own line. Ian Jones came very close to taking the lead for Pirates with a long range penalty but Kinsale took the lead on the stroke of half time with a close range penalty after previously missing 2 kicks at goal. Though the score was only 3-0l at half time Pirates were the happier team as they would have a strong wind to their backs in the second half .
From the re start Pirates dominated and were rewarded with a well taken try by Killian Barry from the back of a line out over thrown by Kinsale and Ian Jones added the conversion.
Pirates now took control of the game but failed to add to their score until 10 minutes from time when a well worked try was scored in the corner by Jack Barrett and Ian Jones having missed two easier kicks converted from the touch line leaving the score 14 to 3 in favour of Pirates who finished the game attacking and never looked threatened.
The Man of the Match really had to be split between team captain Dave Mulcahy and Arron O' Flynn both out standing on the day but to their credit each and every one played their part in a deserved win.
