Despite the icy conditions, Highfield set out their stall early, with Brian OMeara notching up three penalties to give Highfield a 9-0 lead. Winger Paul Matson added to Sundays Wells woes when he crossed the line for Highfields first try after 25 minutes and second row John Stevenson claimed another five points after 36 minutes to give Highfield a 21-0 lead. Despite Sundays Well regrouping and looking to threaten Highfields line throughout the second half, a resolute Highfield defence prevented the Well from making any dent on the scoreboard in the second half. In fact, Highfields first half attacking performance proved to be enough to see them through to the final- with neither side adding to the score line in the second half, the final result was 21-0.
Shannon and Cork Constitution meet in the second semi final of the ODM Munster Senior Challenge Cup at Clifford Park on Sunday at 2pm.
