St Munchins College, Limerick 10- 12 Presentation Brothers College, Cork

Played in sunny conditions and on a perfect pitch the game failed to live up to expectations apart from the closing stages when the Limerick side staged a recovery.

The PBC pack dominated in most of the forward exchanges and their opening try came from a bombardment close to the St. Munchins line which was countered until finally hooker, Denis Keohane, got in at the corner.

The conversion by centre Steven Dinan was to have a crucial bearing on the outcome.

That try came seven minutes before the interval and when splendid flyhalf Brendan Scannell had a second try on 45 minutes the Cork side seemed to be cruising.

St. Munchins were full of heart and five minutes from the end number 8, Mel Corbett had a try to pave the way for an exciting finish.  Just at the Limerick side had a second try, this time by one of the games best players, winger Gary Bateman.  But both were too far out to be converted and the Cork side hung on for victory.
