Dolphin got a real scare at Scariff before coming out on top 18-12. Mark Purcell scored two tries for the Cork side and Andrew ODriscoll one, with Cormac OFlynn adding a penalty. The Clare sided replied with tries from Hugh Molloy and Brendan McNamara and Mick Mahon kicked a conversion.

Ennis won the all Second Division clash with a 17-8 win over Clanwilliam. The Tipperary side led 8-0 at half time with a try by Christopher Doyle and an Eamon Buckley penalty. Damian Forde and Gavin Murphy hit back for Ennis with tries that David Murphy converted. Bryan Murphy completed the scoring with a penalty,

The other Clare side St. Senans were surprisingly beaten by Thomond 14-3. John Sheehan gave the Limerick side an early lead with a try which Jonathan Forde converted. Darren Guerin replied with a penalty for the Clare side. Thomond made sure of victory with a late try by Alan Earley and Forde converted.

Another Second Division side to make their exit were Ballincollig who lost away to Sundays Well 22-12. Brian OMahony scored a try, conversion and penalty for the winners. Shane Walsh and Colin Healy also scored tries for the Well and Ian ORegan kicked a conversion. Dave Power and Conor Forde replied with tries for Ballincollig and Mick Hayden added one conversion.

Kinsale easily accounted for Muskerry with a 31-0 home win. Eddie Farran, Andy Lynch, Joe Lyons and Ian OLeary scored tries for Kinsale and Jason Murphy added three penalties and a conversion.

Charleville were no match for Midleton as the East Cork side advanced on a 41-12 score line. Cathal McSweeney scored two tries for the winners and Keith Cocking, Sean White, Brian Wall and Gary Colbert each got one. Robert Colan-OLeary kicked four conversions and a penalty. Frankie Holly kicked four penalties for the home side.

There were two local derbies; Abbeyfeale defeated Newcastle West 14-7 thanks to Andrew Scannell who got all the winners points with two tries and two conversions. Declan Moloney replied with a try for the home side and Sean Neville converted.

Tries by Shane Flynn, Shane Dowling and Edward Horgan and two conversions and a penalty by Con Reynolds helped Castleisland to a 22-6 away win over Killorglin. Ronan Curtayne replied with two penalties for Killorglin.
 
Two penalties by Andy Cashman gave Mallow a 6-5 win over Douglas. Niall OConnors scored a try in injury time for the visitors but the conversion from the touch line failed to go over.

Kanturk overcame Youghal 12-0 with tries from Mark Fitzpatrick and Simon Mulholland and a Peter Earley conversion.

Both Clonakilty and Nenagh Ormond received walk overs from Carrick-on-Suir and Fermoy respectively.
