Victories for Ardscoil, PBC and Rockwell in the opening round of the Munster Schools Senior Cup
Rockwell College 15, Crescent College Comprehensive 5.
Holders Rockwell earned themselves a home tie in the quarter finals of the Munster Senior Schools Cup.          

Full back James Frawley opened the scoring with a try for Crescent after fifteen minutes but Rockwell hit back with a penalty from Rory Parata within minutes. Five minutes before half time Aidan Moynihan scored a try for Rowell and Parata converted to leave it 10-3 at half time.

The only score in the second half was a try from Steve McMahon.

PBC gained revenge for last year’s defeat in the semi finals of the Senior Cup with a deserved victory over St. Munchin’s at Corbally.

Pres’ led 3-0 at the interval with a penalty from John Poland.

Shane Airey had Munchin’s level with a penalty early in the second half, but on fifty two minutes a lucky bounce of the ball for winger Ben Murphy saw him gather and race thirty metres to restore the Cork side’s advantage.
Poland added a penalty to ensure a home quarter final tie for the Mardyke College against Crescent.

The score line did not reflect the effort that Glenstal put in at Annacotty as Ard Scoil set up a quarter final meeting with St. Munchin’s.

Ardscoil played with the elements in the opening half, but fell behind to a drop goal from Kevin O’Keeffe. A try by Brion Moriarty and a penalty by Robbie Bourke made it 8-3 in favour of Ardscoil at the break.

Second half tries from Bourke, Tony Cusack, Colin Ryan, Moriarty and Cathal Flanagan ensured victory for the City school side. Bourke converted three of the tries. O’Keeffe replied with a penalty for Glenstal.
